30 Days of Thanks - Day 23

Day 23: Tonight I'm thankful for the ability to go on impromptu adventures with the Dayngrous Duo. Thankful that they're always ready for an adventure, even if it isn't perfectly planned or executed. We always have fun.

This evening I took the Dayngrous Duo to the their very first Christmas flotilla. What's that you ask? It's a holiday tradition where boaters decorate their boats with Christmas lights and decorations and then sail from Emerald Isle over to Historic Downtown Swansboro where they are greeted by cheers from the locals. Best part of all? Santa's on the last boat and when the parade is done, the kids can sit on his lap, tell him what they want for Christmas and get a photo with Santa. What fun!

Since this was my first time, I did not anticipate the crowds. We almost missed experiencing this because it was so crowded there was no where to park. Eventually I found a spot but it wasn't perfect and we didn't see the whole parade but it all worked out. Once the parade was over, people cleared out and I was able to park closer to Front Street and when we walked over, all the boats were circling around so we got to see them up close without all the crowds. We grabbed a little dinner over at the Church Street Irish Pub and much to our surprise, Santa popped in for a visit and said hello to the kids while his elves gave them candy canes. It was a great evening!

We're making memories!
